The United States Postal Service (USPS) offers significant discounts for volume business mailings and nonprofit organizations. Our mailing services department uses the latest CASS certification technology (in-house) to help our customers keep the cost of their mailings as low as possible and to ensure a high percentage of delivery success. For a 10,000 piece mailing, CASS certification of the address list could save the mailer approximately $500.
#Accurate mailings verification#
A mailing list must undergo address verification every six months (every three months for carrier route mailings) and is particularly important to mailers because of the difference between the "automation" and "non-automation" mailing rates, which is about $.05 per piece.

Only addresses with the delivery point ZIP code and barcode are eligible for "automation" bulk mailing rates. In order for an address list to receive CASS certification, it must be checked against the USPS Address Matching System (AMS) CD-ROM, and the 11-digit delivery point ZIP code and corresponding barcode must be added. The term CASS is widely used by the USPS when they refer to the verification status of an address list.

The Postal Service will assist a mailer to determine if they have sufficient volume to participate in the e-VS program, based on information provided on the customer’s application.CASS is a United States Postal Service (USPS) acronym for Coding Accuracy Support System. e-VS mailers must consistently present sufficient volume to destination entry locations to ensure a valid sampling plan can be developed and maintained. The individual price is calculated by determining the piece rate, pound rate and IMpb non-compliance fee (if applicable) components for each parcel and adding those components together.Į-VS is designed for high-volume repetitive destination entry mailers. Inclusion of USPS Marketing Mail and Bound Printed Matter parcels requires computation of an individual price for each parcel. Letter-and flat-size mailpieces cannot be included in e-VS mailings. Irregular USPS Marketing Mail parcels may only be included in destination delivery unit mailings. Mailers can monitor the quality of their mail, take preventive measures to ensure discrepancies do not recur, and avoid possible postage adjustments.Į-VS may be used to pay postage and special service fees on domestic Package Service and USPS Marketing Mail™ machinable parcel mailings. e-VS mailers can review the results of postage samplings online. Postage is electronically deducted from the mailer’s PostalOne! postage payment (formerly CAPS) account. The mailer no longer has to plan mailings according to the hours of operation at the origin Post Office.Į-VS eliminates paperwork because hardcopy manifests, postage statements and adjustment worksheets are replaced by electronic documentation. Mailers have control of their mailings from time of preparation to time of deposit at the entry Post Office, although mailings must still be deposited to meet appointment windows. Unlike typical destination entry rate mailings, e-VS mailings are not subject to verification at the origin Post Office or detached mail unit. Instead of reconciling sampling data against individual manifests, it is reconciled against all manifests received from the mailer during the month.įor assistance, or a copy of the e-VS Technical Guide Benefits Sampling data that is used to monitor postage accuracy is captured after the mailing arrives at the destination entry Post Office™.
